Every year during the first weekend of July, we have the Bundy Reunion. This is Josh's family and it was in our "marriage contract" that we would go every year no matter what. I did miss one year because I was on bed rest, but he still went. Anyhow it is a lot of fun and sooooo dirty! We use porta potties and we rig our own shower up so that we can have at least one shower while we are there. They have tons of activities all weekend long and it is a BLAST! This year there were 1200 people there and that is the norm...tons of dirty little kids everywhere! They have a dance on Friday and Saturday night and it is great to watch cousins dance with each other. I must say they are great country dancers and I only wish I could be so good. In fact, all of us that have married into the family sit and watch while our spouses dance with each other because "we just don't cut it!" I have begged Josh to teach me how, but he just won't do it. Anyhow, they also have foot races, horseshoe tournament, roping contest, shotgun shoot, paintball, BB gun shoot for the little ones, and the famous auction. It is great fun and really there is never a dull moment.
Josh loves it and I normally do, but this year was a bit different. When you have kids you can't just leave and go play. I did have fun, but it was definitely different this year. Ty had a blast and that is all that matters to me. I figure I had my fun days and now it is time for my children to have fun. Tag did really well and basically stayed in the front pack with me the entire time. Ty loved to check out all the 4-wheelers there and took turns getting on each one. Thank goodness we were all family! He was filthy dirty everyday and we made him a nice warm bath each night because he was so dirty. Tag even had dirt on him and he never even touched the dirt. The weather was pretty nice this year because it sprinkled off and on. We meet on Mt. Trumbell, which is on the Arizona Strip, so it is usually really hot. To make a long story short, Mt. Trumbell is where the Bundy's grew up and went to school. It is by St. George, UT in the middle of nowhere. The road is usually really bad, so we count how many tires everyone goes through just to make it there and back.
It is usually during the 4th of July so we miss the fireworks and I really don't like that. It is nice to be with family though and I am so grateful to live in this wonderful country and to have all the freedoms that we do. One of our cousins just got back from Iraq and it was so good to see him and know that he made back home to his family. We had a great time and I am just grateful that next year I will not have a newborn baby to take with me!

I know waht you mean about luggin' the newborn...i know iknow, I should totally be more positive yada yada but still when all you do is breastfeed all day long...it's hard not to just "think" about having fun everyonce and awhile *sigh*
lol anyway, ty is a cutie, dirt and all.
I'm amazed that Josh's family pulls off such a HUGE reunion every year! Who organizes it? It sounds like so much fun... I think you should just get out there and do your own dance though! I've seen you dance and you're great! You should be teaching them a few steps! ;-) Ty looks like such a big kid in these pics!
Wow! I didn't realize the reunion was that big. That is pretty amazing. I think Josh is so funny for not wanting to teach you how to be a better country dancer! You have a silly husband Wendy! He makes me laugh! Anyway I am very jealous of you all meeting up in OK! Hope you have a wonderful time without me!
my husband's family has a 4th of July tradition every year too. last year we spent the 4th we my family and i thought Russ' family was going to hire a sniper to take me out for missing their party!!
You are tougher than me. No way would I do porta potties. I rather go in the grass! You know what I wish we would have done - is that Oregon trek we were suppose to go on. Remember? We had to dig our own pot during that!
