Yesterday Ty had his 4th Birthday! He has been so excited for his birthday since his cousins, Beau and Bree, had their birthday's in August! He told me exactly what he wanted and it was only 2 things! In his words, "Mom I only want 2 things, the cars that change color and a cement truck!" Anyone who knows my boys, knows that they are very destructive and hard on toys, so I knew that I wasn't going to buy him those two things because they would be broken in 2 seconds. I thought and thought and thought about what to get him and then we were at our friends house and he was playing his little Leapster game....PERFECT!!! He has really been into the Wii and Computer games lately, so I thought this would be perfect...especially when we drive to Oklahoma! Well, he LOVED it and knows that if mom see's it lying around the house that it gets taken away immediately and will not be given back for a long time. So far so good! I am not real big on the kids having electronics because I want them to play outside, so he is given a time limit and that way he still is active! I hope it continues to work out as well as it already has! It is easy to justify because they are learning games, but I just don't want kids that are addicted to games and won't go outside and play and use their imaginations!
His Grandma and Grandpa Jensen and Great-Grandma Redd got him a fire truck and an automatic air blaster gun! He is in love with both of them and I must say that Josh and I were having fun with the gun yesterday! His Grammy and Poppy gave him $$$ for his savings account...we always love that. We had our friends the Greig's over for his birthday and his friend Isaac got him a water balloon sling shot! We are excited to try it out, but it was too dark outside last night to try it! He also got some art thing, a fun puzzle, and an iron man toy! After his party he said, "Mom, this was the best birthday ever!!" That just made me so happy! My mom always made a big deal about our Birthdays and that is the one thing I want to do for our kids! I think it is great to make them feel very special on their birthday...that is the one thing they don't have to share or have hand me downs!
I stayed up late the night before and made him the chocolate cake with chocolate frosting that he asked for! I now know why I usually buy them. I do not decorate cakes, so it wasn't too pretty, but he really didn't care! He had a great birthday and that is all I really cared about! This morning on the way to pre-school he asked me, "Mom, when is my next birthday?" I just chuckled and said in another year...a long, long, time! I was just happy that he seemed satisfied with the answer!

Oh! Happy Birthday Ty! Just look at that table full of rowdy boys, love it!
My goodness they get big to fast don't they? I love the look on Ty's face with that leapster box in his grasp. And your cake looks great, Wendy! Cakes made with Mama's love always taste the best, too.
I never realized how close in age our kids are! My son Thacks is going to be 4 at the end of Oct. And like Ty, he is also way hard on toys and breaks everything. Boys will be boys! I'll have to look into the Leapster though!
Happy Birthday Ty. Jaxson got a leapster a few years ago when Shaye got her DS and he really enjoyed playing on it for a long time. He mainly just used it at night before he fell asleep. Great tools for car rides or other "quiet" times! Glad he had such a great time... big success for mom!
